10. These Are The Most Popular Porn Searches By Age

In March of 2015, Refinery29 published an article about the most popular porn search terms found in specific age groups and the findings were astounding. Pornhub reported that a majority of their site’s visitors were between 18 and 24 years old and searched terms such as “lesbian,” “step mom,” “teen,” “milf,” and “squirt.” Next were the 25-to-34-year-olds, who claim 30% of Pornhub’s viewership. They searched for the same top five terms, but “step mom” and “milf” are their two favorites. The 35-to-44-year-olds were interested in whatever scenarios that involved the word “mom” while 45-to-54-year-olds searched for “massage” and “Japanese.” Lastly, 55-to-64-year-olds are into “massage,” “milf,” “step mom,” “cartoon,” and “Japanese,” and 65+ searchers are looking for “massage,” “cartoon,” “Japanese,” “granny,” and “milf.”

9. Women Watching Porn: 10 True Stories, No Clichés

Unfortunately, women watching porn is still considered scandalous but Refinery29 is trying to change that. In an article published in March of 2015, Refinery29 collected 10 real stories of women who watch porn. Each story covers specific topics such as how old she was when she began watching porn, how she felt when watching it, how regularly she watches it, and whether or not porn has helped her sex life. Most women agree that watching porn has indeed improved their sex life. A 23-year-old featured in the article said, “I think it’s helped me get more in touch with and accept a lot of my deeper fantasies, some of which I am comfortable incorporating into my real-life sex, some not so much. It’s definitely provided me with clearer material for fantasy, which makes it easier for me to orgasm with or without a partner.”

8. Which States Are Searching For The Most BDSM Porn?

Want to know if you’re living in one of the kinkiest states in America? Refinery29 published an article in August of 2014 detailing which states Pornhub cited for searching the most BDSM porn. Overall, the three most popular terms around the world were “punish,” “bondage,” and “slave.” Worldwide, the fourth most-searched BDSM term was simply “BDSM,” but in the U.S., that spot was taken by the word “dominate,” followed by “spanking.” Apparently, Oklahoma ranks first for searching the term “BDSM,” Montana is in the lead for “bondage,” West Virginia searches the most for “dominatrix” but Wyoming searches the most for BDSM porn overall. Refinery29 notes that most of the states with higher search rates for these terms are in the middle regions of the country.

7. James Deen On Why Porn Stars Should Not Have To Wear Condoms

After years of back-and-forth, three judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled in December of 2014 that requiring condoms in the porn industry does not “violate the industry’s First Amendment rights of free expression,” meaning that all male porn stars will be required to use condoms in their scenes. Infamous male porn star James Deen is fighting against this ruling because he believes the porn industry has never been safer when it comes to STIs and sexually transmitted diseases. “It’s irritating that we’re still fighting sexual stigma as a culture, that people with no insight or knowledge about how the adult industry works would make these decisions for us,” Deen told us. “If people would think of us less as hookers with cameras in front of us and more as entertainers, people would see this a lot more clearly.”

6. Sex Tips We Learned From Feminist Porn

Everyone knows porn is made by men for men, but did you know there’s a thing called feminist porn? Feminist porn star and producer Courtney Trouble explains, “Feminist porn is a movement comprised of filmmakers, consumers, sex workers, sex-positive activists, and academics involving themselves in dialogue about feminist and/or ethical porn-making practices and creating access to a generally male-dominated world of porn.” Some of the tips in Refinery29’s March 2014 article include knowing yourself by getting to know your sexuality and preferences, dressing up your bedroom and your body to match a certain theme as a way to play out fantasies and incorporating toys correctly into the bedroom to enhance orgasms for you and your partner.

5. Thanks To Porn, Men Feel Inadequate, Too

Ladies, you’re not alone; porn makes men feel bad about themselves too. Refinery29 cites chiseled bodies, male porn star’s sizes and hours upon hours of continuous coitus as some of the reasons why porn places unrealistic expectations on men. Porn teaches people that men prefer to have sex with a woman fast and hard, which couldn’t be further from the truth. It also turns out that a variety of camera tricks, lighting techniques, and even makeup are used to help enhance the size of male genitalia. When it comes to lost-lasting erections, a lot of porn stars use Caverject, a drug that’s injected into the penis to help prolong erections, so people should not expect all men to have ever-lasting erections. It turns out that men are negatively affected by the male portrayal in porn like women.

4. Sex Tips From Porn That Are Worth Trying (Seriously)

Trying out porn scenarios can bring couples together. While porn is a highly fictionalized version of real sex, there are indeed some sex tips we can take from these videos. When it comes to sex positions, try anything you feel comfortable doing and don’t be afraid of telling your partner to position themselves in the exact way that you need for it to work for you. Toys, such as vibrators are easy to use and are fun for everyone, so consider incorporating them into your sex life. Also try out the back door. There is a wide range of butt plugs and other anal toys for you to try out and see what you like the best. No matter what you try, make sure you and your partner are comfortable with what you are doing and communicate your pleasure or concerns clearly to one another.

2. Russell Brand Wants You To Give Up Your Porn Habit

Russell Brand wants everyone to stop watching porn! In March of 2015, Brand joined forces with “Fight The New Drug,” an organization that professes to “educate and raise awareness on the harmful effects of pornography using only science, facts, and personal accounts.” According to Brand, “our attitudes toward sex have become warped and perverted and have deviated from its true function as an expression of love and a means of procreation,” and he believes porn is largely to blame. He goes on to ascribe “desperation” and “self-doubt” to those involved in the making of porn — not only dismissing porn’s content, but insulting the professionals who work to create it. Refinery29 points out that Brand might not have seen any of the beautiful female-centric erotica available today.

1. Don’t Blame The Decline Of Marriage On Porn Just Yet

A study by Michael Malcolm, an economics professor at West Chester University, and George Naufal, the technical director at Timberlake Consultant conducted research  in 2014 that says porn is responsible for the decline in U.S. marriage rates because it serves as a kind of replacement for marital relations. While Malcolm and Naufal state that “increased Internet usage is negatively associated with marriage formation” and that “pornography consumption specifically has an even stronger effect,” looking at all of the variables at play suggests that it’s probably not correct to blame Pornhub for society’s shifting relationship with matrimony.
