Auction Editor’s Pick: Pamela Green

pinup

The editor’s pick of the upcoming Filthy Gorgeous Auction is a one of a kind silver gelatin pin up photograph of Pamela Green by Harrison Marks.

As an editor, I have the privilege to examine the Filthy Gorgeous archive of original and erotic slides and photographs. In this week’s auction, my pick goes to an original 1950′s silver gelatin pin up photograph of Pamela Green.

The February 14, 2015 auction is a compilation of images that showcases the rivalry between blondes and brunettes. This rivalry is a cultural phenomenon found in many countries that have a significant blonde population including Argentina, Austria, Chile, France, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom. In the United States, evidence of a blonde v. brunette rivalry is common in the media and especially in television and movies. Examples of this can be seen on television shows and digital platforms including The Office, Suits, Dexter, and Threes Company. In The Office, lighter haired Pam Beesly competes with brunette Karen Filipelli for the attention of Jim Halpert. In Suits, blonde Jenny Griffith competes with brunette Rachel Zane for the attention of Mike Ross. Finally, in Dexter, blonde Rita Bennent and brunette Lila West compete for the affections of Dexter Morgan, the main character. Filthy Gorgeous Media honors this rivalry amongst the most beautiful women from the archives. In Brunettes v. Blondes, the bidder will see unforgettable models including, but not limited to, Joanne Latham, Lane Coyle, Corinne Alphen, Cheryl Rixon, Danielle Deneux, Laura Doone, and Billie Dean.

While each piece in this timeless collection is stunning, my editor’s pick, again, goes to lot #129,  an original silver gelatin pin up photograph of Pamela Green by Harrison Marks in the 1950′s.

Pamela Green, born Phyllis Pamela Green, was an English glamour model and actress, best known at the end of the 1950s and early 1960s. She modeled for Zoltán Glass, Horace Roye, Jean Straker, Joan Craven and John Everard. In 1954, Pamela started to supply the bookshops and newsagents of London’s Soho with her own postcard sets of glamour photographs, to supplement her work as a photographer’s model. In 1955, Luxor Press published a pictorial monograph on Pamela featuring the photographs of George Harrison Marks, entitled Pamela. Her first film appearance was in 1960, when she starred in Michael Powell’s psychological thriller Peeping Tom which included her in a nude scene. This one-of-a-kind slide is guaranteed to be an original and delivered directly from the Filthy Gorgeous Media archives.
