What is it about an attractive or intriguing woman that turns an ordinary man into a creative whirlwind? Beautiful women served as a muse for Bob Guccione as an artist and as a photographer. The women that are featured on Filthy Gorgeous have served a muse for photographers from the past and they continue to evoke inspiration for the future generations. All of the women that are given the title, Filthy Muse, are timeless.

Victoria Lynn Johnson Is A Filthy Gorgeous Muse

Victoria Lynn Johnson, also known as Victoria Lynn, was a favorite of not only Penthouse readers but of the founder and editor Bob Guccione himself. There are multiple reasons why Johnson was the Pet of the Month for August 1976 but the 1977 Pet of the Year. First, she is a natural redhead. Second, she had a perfect classical figure in the 1980′s. While other Penthouse models like Avril Lund had a massive chest appeal, going through the Penthouse archives, Guccione favored a more realistic model. Third, she was a remarkably adept model in terms of posing, and always looked great in the favored Guccione costumes and prop such as floppy hats, half-bras, and post-Victorian garter belts.

Posing For Photographer Bob Guccione

Up until Johnson’s pictorial debut in Penthouse, red-headed women were not found in gentlemen’s magazines. However, once this issue was published, Johnson quickly gained a lot of attention because there was a red-head, with a magnificent body, 35-24-34 measurements, long straight hair, and a flaming orange bush. Most of the blondes in men’s magazines had dark hair down below but Johnson had an amazing coppery fluff. In many of her pictorials in Penthouse, Guccione took great care in making each photo perfect. Known for his love of taking photographs with out of focus flowers in the foreground, to increase the voyeuristic quality, he also loved to get bowls of fruit in his pictures too. Whether this is there as a symbolic comment upon his subjects or whether, as a painter, he just liked still life we are not sure. Either way, this classic Guccione style was prominent in a lot of Johnson’s photos.

Easily her most viewed performance was her role as Angie Dickinson’s body double in Brian De Palma’s 1980 thriller, Dressed to Kill. This film also had a small role for September 1973 Penthouse Pet Anneka di Lorenzo who played a nurse. When the film first came out, the producers encouraged the then 48 year old Dickinson to claim the body in the masturbatory opening sequence was actually hers. However, De Palma insisted his decision to have a body double had less to do with topography than property values. “It wasn’t because Angie doesn’t have a great body or would have minded doing it,” he claimed, “Why weigh down your leading lady when you can use a stand-in? Dickinson had nightmares that they would pick a woman too bosomy, and she would look like an Italian Dolly Parton.” While Angie fretted, De Palma chose Johnson for the shower episode. Dickinson also appeared briefly later on in a nude scene shot from the back.
