Up until Johnson’s pictorial debut in Penthouse
, red-headed women
were not found in gentlemen’s magazines. However, once this issue was published, Johnson quickly gained a lot of attention because there was a red-head, with a magnificent body, 35-24-34 measurements, long straight hair, and a flaming orange bush
. Most of the blondes in men’s magazines had dark hair down below but Johnson had an amazing coppery fluff. In many of her pictorials in Penthouse
, Guccione took great care in making each photo perfect. Known for his love of taking photographs with out of focus flowers in the foreground, to increase the voyeuristic
quality, he also loved to get bowls of fruit in his pictures too. Whether this is there as a symbolic comment upon his subjects or whether, as a painter, he just liked still life we are not sure. Either way, this classic Guccione style was prominent in a lot of Johnson’s photos.
