The Most Controversial Quotes from Pussy Riot
There is pussy power in numbers! And the eleven outspoken ladies who make up Pussy Riot are proof. Pussy Riot is a feminist punk rock protest group based in Moscow, Russia. The group was formed through a united anger regarding “government policies that discriminate against women” and as a result stage unauthorized, confrontational performances in unusual public locations. Their protests against Vladimir Putin and the Orthodox religion, and their pride as feminists has been so extreme that it has landed several of them in jail. In an effort to protest the re-election of Putin, five of the women from the group entered the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow. Their demonstration inside of the church lasted for less than a minute before three of them were caught, arrested, and charged with “premeditated hooliganism performed by an organized group of people motivated by religious hatred or hostility”. Pussy Riot has since agreed not to perform in churches, going forward, but that hasn’t stopped them from speaking their mind. Their opinions about the Russian “dictator”, religion and feminine issues are very clear through their lyrics and public quotes. Here we have compiled the most controversial quotes from the bad ass all girl group. Pussy Power!
